FROM THE LITTLE PENNY I GAVE

From the Little Penny I Gave

I gave a little penny, just a few small bills left in my purse,

to someone who needed it more than I did, back in the 1990s.

Not because I had much, but because love had grown in my heart.

I trusted God, never worrying that I might have less,

and again and again, I witnessed His miracle and grace.

Slowly, I noticed, He made my life grow, step by step.

That small beginning taught me how to be selfless for decades.

Not only thinking of myself, but reaching out to others instead.

He gave me more talents than I ever knew I possessed,

and He broke down every border of doubt I carried.

I realized, I am capable of giving far more than I ever imagined.

Obstacles still come, stones that block the way,

moments that try to make me feel small and weary.

But I remember, it was never about how much I have,

only about how much I am willing to give from the heart.

Every stumbling block becomes a stepping stone,

for God does not call the equipped, He equips the faithful.

And what I gave has been returned as blessings I could not comprehend.

Faithful over the little, entrusted with much.

For years, I practiced these small acts.

I never became wealthy in gold,

yet I walk each step lightly and gladly,

leaning always on His promise.

I have carried heavy burdens along the way,

but without His grace, I would be truly empty.

My joy was never found in what I kept,

It was born from a little penny I gave.
